Our Atlanta breast augmentation (enlargement) procedure involves making small breasts fuller. By inserting implants, your bustline can be increased by one or more bra cup sizes. You will need to make decisions on breast size (cup size), on the type and shape of implants you will receive, and on the location of your incisions.

The method of inserting and positioning your implant will depend on your anatomy and your surgeonís recommendation. The incision can be made either in the crease under the breast, in the edge of the areola (the dark skin surrounding the nipple), or in the armpit. Every effort is made to assure that is incision is placed so resulting scars will be as inconspicuous as possible.

To achieve fullness and create the most natural breast-like feeling possible, implants are filled with saline (salt water). Saline is much like the fluid that makes up 70 percent of the human body. The implant is inserted empty, and then filled once it is in place. Thus, it can usually be placed through a small incision. Breast implants come in different shapes and sizes. Some implants are round, and some are anatomical. Dr. Lincenberg will discuss the various implant options with you during your consultation.

Another choice you will need to make is breast size. For example, if you are a 34A now, you may know you want to be about a 34C. You may also have concerns about breast shape and proportions that bra cup size alone can't describe. Dr. Lincenberg will ask you for your personal preferences, so he can take them into account in recommending the right implant size and shape for you.

The breast augmentation procedure takes about 1-2 hours. It can be performed in the surgical suite at Georgia Plastic Surgery or in the hospital outpatient department. You should expect to be out of work 3-7 days.
